Default My Brother Jonathan

Dear all,
this is a great site! I put out a request for White Corridors yesterday, and got two replies straight away!

This has encouraged me to seek out the '40s film, My Brother Jonathan. Are there any wonderful people out there who can help?

Many thanks,
Nandu

I have this film.
Dear Jazzylady,
Many thanks for your kind offer! In fact, I have already heard from Aphra - a mine of good things, obviously - and have closed on the deal. Nevertheless, I'm very grateful.
Best wishes,
Nandu

I'm trying to find, either on DVD or video, a copy of the films Holiday Camp and My Brother Jonathan. They were made in the 1940's. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Yes Michael was one of the stars, with his missus Dulcie Gray.
Some places might list it by the year of release (1948) rather than when it was made (1947)

A little harsh.... I think he was projecting a quiet, understated character that is not really in tune with the world of today, unfortunately.

Anyway, Clive Owen has the teak award, surely...

Definitely a bit harsh. He was just playing the typically (for the time) restrained British officer with the classic stiff upper lip. It wasn't done to get all emotional. They left that for the "continentals"

Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, he usually played a "good dependable sort".
But he could do light-hearted as well. Like when he played Algernon Moncrieff in The Importance of Being Earnest (1952)
