I think he was mainly happy to know it existed, even if only Ted can ever watch it.

It was broadcast in the US last month...which means someone will have a copy on a domestic format...

IMB refers to this as a lost film. However 5 people have given it a rating,2 of whom are in their 30s or 40s.This is very curious since they could not have seen the film on its original release. So maybe somewhere out there someine has a print.

Or maybe they gave it a rating based on what they've heard about it?
Or maybe they just give ratings to films that they haven't seen?

There are some that we suspect do the latter. It's been discussed in the Contributors Help board

I'll keep my fingers crossed. There are quite a few people I know who would be very interested in seeing it (including me)

Be very wary of paying any money in advance for a copy of this film........let them send it to you first !!

I have a fine copy of Crime Unlimited on DVD, courtesy of Ted Turner and a US member of the forum. Prefer to trade but will send to non-traders anyway.

Is there even a poster or image promoting the film?

Yes, see Powell & Pressburger Images - Squadron Leader X (1943)

See also the details of the Canadian press sheet and the story synopsis from a 1943 film magazine

Steve

Edit: I presume you are talking about Squadron Leader X

That story synopsis shows that it has a great plot with lots of drama and plot twists. That's why i think it's such a shame that nobody can get to see it

re. The comments about the Canadian Press sheet and the extensive synopsis. That wouldn't have been for the Cinema Manger to put into the press, but for a local film reviewer to put into the press as a film review that he had written...without going to the expense of a local Trade Show. There's nothing new about hack journalists regurgitating press releases....

Thanks, that'd explain some of the strangeness. Although I would hope that even a local film reviewer would then use it to just allude to some exciting scenes rather than giving the whole plot away as that press release does
