Released on R2 DVD.....Check Amazon UK ......you can rent/buy it....

Yes, it's an excellent film. Here's the amazon link:

Don't be put off by the fact that the date given is 1976. It's definitely the Dmytryk Obsession, not the Brian de Palma one.

It's also quite a good print, despite an appallingly shoddy cover which lists Naunton Wayne as "Wayne Naughton" and manages to turn Sally Gray and Phil Brown into "Sally Brown".

It's hard to believe that Thomas Harris didn't watch this in his youth. The murder method and and victim's means of escape bear more than a slight similarity to that of Silence of the Lambs (though Obsession has a rather more entertaining detective).
