I would be interested in one of the films mentioned on the list Three Silent Men 1940 if this is included in anyones collection? I'm after it to add to my Derrick de Marney collection also The Spider another film from this period with Derrick and Diana Churchill in.

Billy Bentley, I can't of course answer for Grebmoolb, but Mcfarland Press have fairly recently published "British Film Noir Guide" by Michael Keaney, a pretty exaustive tome.
Amazon.com have it for $49.50.

I've got a copy.

The book accounts for 369 UK titles produced between 1937 and 1964 that Keaney feels embody many of the same filmic qualities as those similar to American noirs of the classic period.

As one might expect with any listing that suggests authority and comprehensiveness, people are going to take issue with a) what's been included and b) what's not. And around that there's been some real contention within the film noir community, at least on this side of the pond.

However, as far as it goes (or even doesn't) it's a useful resource and a good starting point for most purposes in approaching Brit Noir as a collector. Each film is rated on a 1 to 5 star basis so if you want to just cut to the chase, it's very helpful.

However, backing up, one problem - if you want to call it that- with the book is that Keaney often labours too long on questions of plot and prehaps not enough on those of analysis and context.

That said, I'm happy to have the book as it's provided a valuable annotated checklist of British noir.
