Default Roddy McDowall films

Looking for some early Roddy McDowall films. Does anyone know if these are still around?

Murder Will Out (40)
Saloon Bar (40)
Dead Man's Shoes (40)
Poison Pen (40)
Just William (40)
This England (41)
Confirm or Deny (41)
Man Hunt (41)
White Cliffs of Dover (44)

I know Man Hunt was on DVD, but it seems to be unavailable, at least on Amazon. I'd given up on The White Cliffs of Dover, but it is on the list of a 'rare' film dealer in the US.

Many thanks, as always,
Richard

Both Poison Pen and Just William are available on eBay. I haven't seen Poison Pen but the Just William print is perfectly acceptable (and young Roddy is a lot better than the kid who plays William).

Poison Pen is good, but not as good as Clouzot's original version Le Corbeau.

Le Corbeau is very good but it was made 3 years after Poison Pen and isn't based on the same source material. And it's conspicuously free of Roddy McDowall so probably not a good subsitute for the completist. Nor does it have Kenneth Connor so Poison Pen wins all round!

I believe that Llewellyn's original play "Poison Pen" (1938) was based on the same true incidents between 1917 and 1922 that also inspired Le Corbeau. Le Corbeau is by far the more accomplished film. The screenplay (originally written in 1933 so predating both the play and UK film version) is more substantial (incorporating the fear of informers in an occupied country) and the direction and cinematography are much more skilful. The cast is uniformly excellent, without resorting to some of the caricatures in Poison Pen, with Clouzot's mastery of suspense the equal of Hitchcock.
