Default Goal (1966)

In 1966 a UK made fim was released about the 1966 World Cup soccer match-made via the Samuelson Film Group, shot on 35mm. It was called GOAL-(not very original!)
Has anyone any clue where i can obtain a tape of it to view?

I might be corrected here(whats new) but I can't remember it ever being on TV, and considering we've had nine world cups since then and no victories that has given the companies plenty of scope to put it on.
It was great though to see it on the big screen, in colour and at the local flea pit!

regards
Freddy

Ha ! Gotcha Freddy. This film had been on TV a few times, and generally at the time of the World Cup finals. I know it was shown at the time of the 1990 finals.

This film was an absolute must-see for any young soccer-mad kid when it came out. I remember being struck by the vivid colours and clear images, which were in contrast to the poxy little b&w thing we watched the game on.

I'm sure somebody has got this on tape somewhere.

Ah Yes, the Soviet Union. All them wheatfields and ballet in the evenings

My only gripe about GOAL was too many jerky close up shots of footballers feet etc and this distracted from following the play properly. It was nice to see the teams in colour though. The first colour TV World Cup was 1970, and we even had to watch that one in black and white!

I remember that just about all the sound were dubbed on "effects".

I also now recall that they showed this film in 1996 to remind us it was 30 years since England did any good at footie.
