I wonder If Tony Asquith's Underground (1928) is available from any source.
Any thoughts, please?

Some years ago I wanted to see Anthony Asquith's 'Underground' and the only print I could locate was at the British Film Institute. Sadly it was rather costly to arrange the viewing, actually the BFI hands you a stack of 35mm film cans and you run it yourself, but there were no other options.

There has been talk of the bfi releasing the three classic silent Asquiths on DVD - Underground, Shooting Stars, and A Cottage on Dartmoor, - but nothing definite as yet. Clips from all three do appear on Kevin Brownlow's Cinema Europe, which is available on dvd, and highly recommended.

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

I arranged some private viewings last year and thought it represented really good value for money - but then again I called myself a student and got it at half price. I can't remember the tariffs now but I don't think it worked out much more than £15 or so per film for students (they actually charge per hour). Not bad when they have to transport them down from their archive to central London and back again.

Thay have stiffed me a couple of times - their database says they have a copy, so you book in a viewing only to find out their copy is their 'master' and not available to the public.
