Anybody know if this available in either DVD or video?
I can't find it anywhere, which is a shame because it was recommended to me as a great film and I'd love to see it!

Default They Drive By Night 1938 British Film

My first post after recently joining and here's hoping someone can help.
I'd love to be able to get a copy of They Drive By Night (the Brit film from 1938 with Emlyn Williams) which I've not seen for years or been able to find anywhere.
A copy from a TV broadcast would be fine, VHS transfer etc.
If anyone can help then please get in touch. Thanks !

I am looking for a good clean print of this film on DVD, anyone have one. I know there's a print doing the rounds in the US but it's appalling quality.

An 80s Channel4 off-air copy is probably the best you'll find.

I have one -- originally recorded by Lindsay Anderson! You can see some screen-grabs here:
Things I read off the screen in “They Drive By Night” « SHADOWPLAY
Send me a PM if this looks adequate.

Presumably you are referring to the British Title, and not the US film of the same name issued about the same time. I think the BFI/National Archives have restored a print of the British film - that was the version shown on Telly back in the 1980's - unfortunately I did not tape it. Very annoying as this is a film also on my wants list

Perhaps hopefully, it may be released in the shops on DVD, as it is an excellent film.
