Does anyone know anything about this film and is it available anywhere. The report on IMDB make it sound intriguing but I have never seen it on British TV. Any help appreciated.

Not as far as I know in the last twenty years, at least on terrestrial. I haven't seen it on the box since I got a video....because I would have taped it...as (and I think I've said this before) it was filmed at my old school, and includes some of the kids and my old teachers as extras..

This has been shown on Film Four in the last few years. I think I taped it at the time and may still have it somewhere. It's quite a low budget effort but very effective - David Hemmings is excellent.

The school sequences were filmed at two schools; the one with the seacliffs I don't know; the gothic pile, where most of the interiors were also shot - the classroom, dining hall, changing rooms, squash court (this is all from distant memory) was at Reading Blue Coat School , at Sonning. The Hole was also filmed there, and the episode of Morse with Liz Hurley...

Could anyone help me to get hold of a copy of this film - it's surprisingly popular among teachers as the original radio script reads well in class. Bizarre fact, Giles Cooper who wrote the script died when falling off a train in 1966. The BBC have a radio drama prize named in his honour.

It may well do...but the film is still certified an 'X', at least partly due to a scene where the class rape the teacher's wife in the Squash Court...not one for the kiddywinks, I'd suggest. Let me know if you find a copy, however.

The exteriors were shot in North Wales during some amazingly cold weather I am reliably informed by somebody who was there during the making of the film.

And Berkshire, which can also be quite bleak...

I am new to this forum but I can answer your question about where Unman, wittering and Zigo was filmed. It was in Llandudno,North Wales. The school was St Davids College just outside Llandudno. the cliff scenes were the little orme. And the pub scene was at the end of my street. The pub was called Maggie Murphies in Deganwy North Wales. The pub landlord featured in the film at the time was called Col John Hare (in fact he was a Leftenant Colonel but thought being called Colonel was better) And when it was being filmed a lot of the locals were used as extras. they thought that they were on to a good thing thinking they would get free beer but alas the landlord only let them have half a pint then charged them after that. My dad was in of those extras.

The parts I know to be Reading Blue Coat School are those sequences; in the classroom (actually the Junior Common Room); The Dining Hall (actually our Assembly Hall); the changing rooms with the double bank of sinks and wire-mesh lockers (still with the same paintwork when I was there) The timber panelled lobby and stairs (which only prefects were allowed to use!!), possibly the head's office (not somewhere I frequented thank God) and the infamous squash court...which I did.
