God it does take you back,I can see him doing his act now. Jumping up and down off a seat drinking champagne served to him by a man in full livery. Getting drunker every time he took a glass from the servants full tray. I didn't know he made films as Mr.Pastry I can only remember him as the comedy relief in "HORNBLOWER" with Greg Peck.

When, in 1956, as a nine year old, I went to see Walt Disney's "Davy Crockett - King of the Wild Frontier" at the pictures, the film on with it was Richard Hearne as Mr Pastry in "Tons of Trouble." He played a caretaker in a block of flats and had to look after two old boilers. I remember thinking it was very funny at the time, but that was 48 years ago and I haven't seen it since. It's never even been shown on television, either. Does anyone know what has happened to this seemingly long lost British comedy?

I used to like children's television then. Probably showing my age. I used to like Old Mother Riley films. We have a large collection of the old British War Films and we view them a lot with the rubbish (ie soaps) that are on the TV at the moment. I would also like I didn't know you cared with Robin Bailey as Uncle Mort and Carter.

I am so glad I found this web site and can look for the old films

Check out the IMDb,under Richard Hearne there is a full list of his films - including "Tons of Trouble"(1956)this might help you narrow the search for his films on vhs/dvd. :)

Hello,

I have Richard Hearne in "The butler's dilemma" (1943) and "Madame Louise" (1951) - in both of these he appears in his Mr Pastry role. I also have "Something in the city" (1950) and "Miss Robin Hood" (1952)with Richard Hearne, but not as Mr Pastry. Contact me at mrtfilms at aol dot com if you need them.
Best wishes

Hello,

About Richard Hearne:

8. Helter Skelter (1949) .... Professor Pastry
9. Woman Hater (1949) (uncredited) .... Reveller
12. Miss London Ltd. (1943) .... Commodore

I have had a look at the IMDB listing for Richard Hearne and see that I have the three films above.

There is an uncredited appearance in 'Passport to Pimlico' as the nighttime drunk on a bicycle who runs into the policeman (Philip Stainton) as he is on his way to turn the watermains back on.
