Hello All, a year or so ago i got into the British Folk Music scene of the late 60's and early 70's including Vashti Bunyan and noticed that she appears in the above film which also has a Pink Floyd soundtrack. I read a review on IMDB saying it was awful but i want further opinions on the quality of the film (is it an 'of its time Swinging London' thing etc), the soundtrack and the appearances of the various pop luminaries of the time.

I think it was before Vashti released 'Just Another Diamond Day' when her material was more pop orientated, let me know if i'm right on this.

I saw it for sale on Amazon.com but not in this country, is it worth getting an NTSC version?

Any Info will be much appreciated, also let me know of other films with Folk artists either appearing on the soundtrack, acting in the film etc.

Cheers

Hello
I haven't seen the film but according to the sleevenotes from a compilation I've got she is singing 'Winter is Blue' on the soundtrack. My friends have the film but are having to dig it out as it's lost on a tape somewhere they have said it isn't really very good but I think it's worth a try anyway, sounds really interesting even if it's not a great film. I don't know of any films as such featuring folk artists but I have got a DVD called 'Pentangle captured live' which is an appearance Pentangle made on French TV in 1973. It's only 40mins long but its quite cheap on Amazon and it's a nice bit of footage. (Did you hear Vashti on Stuart Marconi's Freak show on Radio 6, they played songs from her new album, if not you can listen again, she's on about an hour into the show) Sorry to stray off the point!

I have this on DVD (from www.videobeat.com) and it's reasonable quality -I'd say about B to B+. Sometimes the vocals/picture is fuzzy, but it's mostly ok. I'd say it's very much "of its time". I think Mick Jagger makes an appearance, but I've only watched it once ages ago, so I can't remember much else about it.
