If I remember I'll ask C+ in the morning. First time I spoke to the BFI they were sure they had it on 16mm but more unsure during a subsequent conversation.

Iirc it's a strange one as it was produced by a small independent company whose only other notable work was a Tony Hancock series.

Was this the film which featured Danny Ross, who is most remembered as "Alf `All" ("Don't Worry Son, We'll Pick You Up If You Do") of "Clitheroe kid fame? He was superb in Arthur Askey's "The Love Match"

Did Canal+ give any answer?
BFI say it may be available on mediatheque - but, I'm afraid it's not!!
Good luck!!

There's a feature on ebay whereby you can post a "request" and when that item is up for auction you are contacted by ebay.

Ramsbottom Rides Again has been "requested" by me for a couple of years.

This really is one helluva obscure film

Yes, he was leaving the office when I phoned but said Ramsbottom had recently crossed his desk (tho they haven't the rights to it), but he couldn't recall why. He provides C+ material for festivals etc so somebody may be seeking it.

The rights are complicated and fragmented (and one company mentioned no longer exists) which is probably why it's never surfaced. I investigated a bit further down the chain but felt the person I spoke to had no intention of replying as promised - and he hasn't.

The BFI might or might not have a print - they seemed unsure.

Yes, I agree entirely.
I have tried that route without any success so far.
Surely someone, somewhere must have a copy of it, especially if it has actually been shown on tv.
BFI don't offer a great deal of help unfortunately.
Good luck!

Thank you for the up-to-date information.
BFI pointed me towards mediatheque, but it's not there.
As an organisation, I don't feel it's particularly helpful.
Surely there must be a copy somewhere?
Best regards.
