there must be a copy available if this thread is to be believed from another forum

Indeed I am Kevin (and thank you). I helped Rob Ross by providing him with a VHS print of an old Sid James comedy called RAMSBOTTOM RIDES AGAIN (a Brit Western, with Sid in a pre-Rumpo Kid role).

Calm down calm down. This is one heck of a hard film to find. People are trying to find one of the "Holy Grails" of British Movies and it's so hard.

I have sent emails to the illustrious Mr Ross, with no reply. I have even contacted the manager of Sabrina, the girl with large outstanding features, but even he has had no luck and does not have a copy, at least that's what he tells me.

Maybe the only way to find a copy is to have a seance, maybe in a rag 'n bone yard, and try to contact Arthur Askey, Sid James, Shani Wallis, Frankie Vaughan, Betty Marsden, Jerry Desmonde & Campbell Singer, maybe they have a copy.

The lesson is, be patient.

Desperation is a sign of weakness and not in control.

I have hardly seen any one that's desperate for this movie, otherwise the total forum would be about Ramsbottom, but it's not. Given time, every avenue will be explored and the elusive Ramsbottom will be with us to enjoy and hopefully share.

Shani Wallis is still alive and living in Hollywood. There was an interview with her in yesterday's Mail on Sunday.

Robert's a generous guy and if he could help I'm sure he would. Like others he has probably given his word not to run off duplicates; otherwise in the blink of an eye it'll be all over Ebay and somebody making a quick killing.

I am disappointed at news of not being able to get a copy of Ramsbottom.
However, I read about Pete Waterman owning all the rights to the Arthur Askey films, how true this is I dont know but maybe thats a route we could follow?

Sorry, but I too am confused! Does a vhs copy still exist? If so, who holds the copy?
Surely, somebody somewhere must be able to supply a collectors' copy?

Hi grebmoolb - why has this come to a full-stop? A legal restriction? Surely this film is now in the public domain? Only problem is that it's hardly available to the "public"!!! Hens teeth and rocking horse droppings are easier to find! Any further info would, I'm sure, be of interest to everyone concerned. Thank you.

Look up "public domain" for UK productions

They remain in copyright for 70 years after the death of the longest living creator (writer or director) of the work.

Very few British titles are in public domain. It's mainly an American thing, the copyright rules are very different there.
