BBC4 have had this homage to homosexuality running for ages now, perhaps they'll do one for heteros sometime, or would that be asking too much?
It's an excellent film.

I do not think that the homosexual aspects of the film interfere with the story.
I was a little surprised that Pete didn't make a move on Reggie when they were sleeping together.
Then again, back in those days mates used to share beds for convenience on holidays ect.. without a thought that they might be judged as being homosexual.

Dave.

The R1 release by Kino, now out of print, is widescreen letterboxed. The film has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1, so the actual image area is pretty narrow.

The R2 release is fullscreen (1.33:1), not widescreen, and the print used was of less-than-stellar quality.

The recent tv broadcast was in anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1), revealing more of the original image than the R2 fullscreen version, though the left and right extremes of the original film still were cropped. Good quality print, though.

W..e...l..l..... The landlady did give us a slightly quizzical look. We had a good laugh about it in the pub later.

Three-in-a-bed could get a bit unpleasant though, because you had to top and tail - and if your mates didn't keep their feet clean......

I did wonder if youngsters watching it now would grasp that two blokes in a double-bed didn't have to mean.....
