The Magic Toyshop - Britmovie

Hey does anyone remember the film, which was on Granada 'The Magic Toyshop' in 1987. It was written by Angela Carter, the same person who wrote 'The Company of wolves' and was directed by David Wheatley.

I hear that it wasn't released on Video, but wondered if anyone had possibly recorded it at the time or knew who to write to for more information about possibly releasing it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I actually saw "The Magic Toyshop" at the cinema, on a double bill with another overlooked gem of the period, "Apartment Zero".

"The Magic Toyshop" was quite extraordinary, a very creepy piece that, like all good fairytales had a strong dose of horror. To be honest, as it was around fifteen years since I saw it, I do not have a very strong memory of the film's basic plot elements and the like, by the overall mood and disturbing nature of "The Magic Toyshop" is bound to remain with me for a long time still.

So it was not released in Britain on video either? I thought it was just Australia that suffered such a fate. Such a pity as it deserves to be seen.

This one was released on video in the UK.
It pops up on ebay now and again, there's one finishing in a few hours so you'll be in with a good chance if you read this in time.

"The Magic Toyshop" is listed on www.blackstar.co.uk although it has been deleted they will do a search for you for 16.99.If they don't find it there's no charge,so it might be worth giving it a go.
