There is a DVD available. Copies appear on eBay every so often.

What's wrong with the one offered on The Tracy Hyde/Melody Site?

There is an official Hong Kong DVD of MELODY. It was/is a huge cult film here, and was previously released on laserdisc...there is also a Japanese LD of the film but so far no Japanese DVD.

Does anyone know if another Lester film, LITTLE ADVENTURER has ever been released or even shown on TV? I'd never even heard of it until I happened across a poster in film memorablia shop a couple weeks back.

I must confess that I've never heard of LITTLE ADVENTURER either, until you mentioned it. I looked it up on the IMDb and there is very sparse info about it, except that it was a Japanese film made in 1973 with a Japanese cast, so what Mark Lester was doing in it is anyone's guess. In 1973, he would have been 15 years old, so I can't see how he could have played the title character in it. As far as I know, it has never been shown on UK television, nor issued on video here and I certainly don't recall it being shown at any cinema around where I live.

Even at 15 I think the cherubic Lester could have passed for a "little adventurer" - he still looked pretty young in SCALAWG didn't he? One guesses the film is about a Western boy living in or visiting Japan who maybe gets lost. Presumably this Toho Production was made to cash in on the success of MELODY, and I wonder if it has ever been shown outside of Japan, and if there's actually any English dialogue in the film as that would require the presence of other Westerners for Lester to converse with.

Now I really want to see this! I'll try and find out more.

Just do a search for references to it on this forum. It's one of the most frequently asked for films.
There are people asking for it (and other people offering it) here and here.

The Japanese DVD is unquestionably the one to go for as it's a remastered 16:9 presentation. The first press (in a textured cover) sold out pretty quickly and it seems the second pressing is now out-of-print as well...but worth looking for.
