Hello, Orpheum,

The BFI has a 16 mm print of "Music Hall" (1934), put out by Twickenham Film Studios, directed by John Baxter: includes many genuine music hall acts. G.H. Elliott sings "Sue, Sue, Sue, I'm very much in love with you." Macari and his Dutch performers appear as does Maurice Chester's Sixteen Performing Dogs; Debroy Summers sings "So Shy: and "Aint Misbehaving" and Raymond Newell "With a Smile on Your Lips," and others.

There is also an interesting webpage on 1930's musicals that gives titles, casts and other fascinating information:

I hope this adds to your information on"Music Hall". I wish it were the vhs itself, but I don't see it available anywhere.

All the best,

Barbara

i get a bit frustrated with the bfi. They have all of these films yet at times they seem to resemble TCM in the UK.Showing all the usual and familiar films..I went to the recent season of quota quickies at the NFT.Most were well attended. We will probably have to wait for another 5 years before we see another season.Pity that Music Hall is gathering dust in the archives rather than being available for everyone to view
