Under the 'Can You Name This Film' category, go to the 'classic black and white' subject. It is being discussed there.

Hey...success! I knew I could find it if I looked hard enough. Would you be able to copy it for me? I'm willing to send tape/pay for postage?

I think I may have this as an offair recording from Ch4, I'll have to check.
Bravo showed it when they were 'timewarp television' in the mid 90's, before they transfomed (to my great disappointment) into a third rate porn channel.
BTW this film is a work of genius!!!
A small snippet of the film was shown in the 'Ronnie Barker BAFTA tribute' on tv a short while ago.
Hi, Did You Find It? And Would You Be Prepared To Send Me A Copy If I Cover The Expenses? I Have Been Looking For A Long Time, And Would Be Very Grateful.

Channel4 showed it twice in 1987, and never again since!

Cool

I have had a quick look at my Halliwell's Film Guide:
A HOME OF YOUR OWN
GB 1965 44m bw
Calamities pile up on a building site.
"Genuinely funny funny silent comedy, with bits from a variety of familiar faces".
Written by Jay Lewis,John Whyte, directed by Bob Kellet, photography by Dennis Coop, music by Ron Goodwin
Starring Ronnie Barker,George Benson,Richard Briers,Janet Brown,Peter Butterworth,Bernard Cribbins,Fred Emney,Bill Fraser,Ronnie Stevens.

So unless I'm getting my wires crossed here,it was not an Eric Sykes film (I thought it was) and I thought Sylvia Syms played Richard Briers' wife (obviously it was Janet Brown). Was Sylvia Syms in The Plank?

You got your tags the wrong way round.

Sylvia Syms was in It's Your Move

Eric Sykes had nothing to do with A Home of Your Own

Janet Brown is not credited (on IMDB anyway) for A Home of Your Own; infact, none of the female cast members are.

I thought Janet Brown played one of the council dignatories, not Richie Briars missus.

I watched this film again, for the first time in a while, yesterday; it had me in tears!!!

I have (as far as I'm aware) all of the shorts like this:-(Mr.H, your Move, both Planks, Rhubarb, etc) and its the best of the bloody lot.

Fanbloodytastic.

My fave characters are the water diviner and the greaser!

You're thinking of It's Your Move probably.

Yes, I have found it.
Channel4 showed it twice in 1987, and never again since!
My copy if from one of those showings.
I have transferred it to DVD-RAM and tidied it up, removed ads, etc.
I can copy to DVD-R, but not to VHS, as its too much hassle.
Just found your posting - I have been searching for a copy of this film for ages - can you advise me if you can send me copies of the DVD-RAM and/or DVD-R that you have of it? Will happily pay all costs of the copies, post and yout time etc.

This is amazing - I have just discovered this site. I'm not really a film buff but have endured 40 years plus of my parents talking about this film but have never seen it!!! Would it be possible to send me a DVD-R version - I can supply DVD/pay all expenses if you let me know (unless you can point me in the direction of where I could buy it ... although I doubt it is buyable!). Would much appreciate it.

Just had a pleasant morning watching "the Plank" and "it's your move". I have also just discovered this site because when I bought "the plank" I thought it was "A Home of your Own". research here has clarified things. If anyone can supply me with a DVD of "A Home of Your Own" I would be most grateful. Please email me, mick_wakelin@cnt.com Thanks

Hi Barry, I'd love a copy of "A Home Of Your Own" if you could be so kind, I've been trawling the net for ages looking for one & this is the first glimmer of hope I've had! I'll send a tape & pay postage etc no worries, please get in touch.

The mention of black and white shorts, reminded me of 'The Running, Jumping, Standing, Still Film', obviously a play on words by Spike when considering the term 'film still', or 'still photography'. Apart from him and the other Goons, I remember there were many others but can only recall Graham Stark and Mario Frabritzi (not sure of spelling). I saw it a couple of times and on each occasion ended up in tears.
Does anyone else remember or have it for sale?
Maybe not so much of a play on words as it didn't have those commas in the title. It was The Running Jumping & Standing Still Film (1959)
It starred Richard Lester, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Mario Fabrizi, David Lodge, Leo McKern & Graham Stark
