I thought that even Esther Rantzen had a part in it!

I remeber seeing a colour version in the 80s with Arthur Lowe (prob his last Tv appearance). He gets into a Morris Minor with Eric Sykes and the doors keep opening. I didn't actually find such purile comedy funny at the age of 10 but find it funny now!

That sounds like the 1979 version of 'The Plank'

I have an offair copy from Ch4.
Send me a PM and we can discuss.
Could you please make a copy of A Home of Your Own for me? I work for a building trade associationa nd I think it would be an amusing film to show at our national conference!

I'll be happy to send a blank video/ disk and a cheque for post

Just found your posting - I have been searching for a copy of this film for ages - can you advise me if you can send me copies of the DVD-RAM and/or DVD-R that you have of it? Will happily pay all costs of the copies, post and yout time etc.
Would you be able to send me a copy of A Home of your own on DVD?
Hope you can help!

Re 'A Home of Your Own' etc;- This was shown on TV a long time ago and I recorded it on the Betamax format, which I still have. I could copy to VHS or DVD if anyone wanted a copy, but the quality is not brilliant, but perfectly watcheable. It is one of my favourite films of all time and wished there were more made like that and still available.
Re 'The Plank' - This was made twice, both were in colour, the first one starring Eric Sykes and Tommy Cooper, the second (remake) starring Eric Sykes and Arthur Lowe. I have both of these on Beta and VHS. Sykes produced a number of other brilliant silent shorts, incuding Rhubard, which again was remade and I have both of these too. Mr H is Late was a comparatively more recent one and included Freddie Starr. I would like to get hold of a good DVD copy of any of these films if anyone know where to get them from. In the meantime I would be happy to copy any of my collection for the cost of tape/DVD disk and postage etc.

Barry.
Hi Barry,
If you are still able to make a DVD copy of A Home of Your Own, I would be grateful if you would send me a copy, and let me know how much I owe you.
Regards,
Derek Rumble.

This week we lost the cement mixer: Ronnie Barker.
Hopefully the keeper of the original film will look through their collection of Barker films and release this classic.

Hackett and DB7 are (I think) spot on ! HOME OF YOUR OWN was directed (?) by Jay Lewis and featured a young Richard Briers as the husband who waited forever to get his house built - by the time they moved in they had three children ! Bernard Cribbins was the sculptor who kept breaking his plinth and having to start again. Site foreman was Bill Fraser - the film also featured Ronnie Barker, Ronnie Stevens and Peter Butterworth. As you may guess, this is one of my favourite shorts - shown by CH4 many years ago and latterly repeated on Bravo...
also repeated on TCM.. regular showings on there....

go to TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES. and see all films to be shown... good luck..

None of the above mentioned films were in black and white, though. They were all in colour.

Not much help, but wasn't this film actually called A Home of OUR own. It might help when searching.
I thought it was hilarious at the time... especially when the guy cementing the floor finally did a ballet dance on the wet cement after everyone else had walked over it.

Thanks - I'll try searching on that too. Yes I too believe it was a very funny film. We saw it as the "B" movie accompanying "Whats new pusseycat" It was funnier than "Pusseycat" for most of the audience, judging by the amount of laughter in the cinema.

Cheers

Saw a clip of it last night - that guy doing the ballet was Ronnie Barker!
