I cannot recall ever seeing this film but there has been so many enquiries and positive feedback about it on this forum over the years that I'm going to make a point of getting a copy.

Dave.

I don't think you'll be disappointed Dave. To me, in terms of Ronnie B, it's easily up there with FUTTOCKS END, if not slightly ahead...

Very interesting thread....I remember the Plank and Home of our own but what was the other film in a similar vein about a chap trying to dispose of an old tyre.....If I remember he tries all ways to get rid of it but is thwarted every time....I think the film ends with success but this is short lived as the tyre trundles down a hill only to roll into the owners garden....exactly where it all started from.

I remember the whole cinema roaring with laughter when it was shown but for the life of me I cannot remember the title.

Any help on this one?

Regards.

I ordered a copy of the DVD from overseas and received it this week.

I own a widescreen television, so imagine how p***ed off I felt when I found the DVD would only play in 4:3 screen aspect ratio.
The DVD was released recently by Digital Classics. As widescreen televisions are growing in popularity wouldn't you think that the company would have spent more time on its release ensuring that it could be watched in widescreen mode and other screen size aspects?

It leaves me feeling somehow short-changed.

Dave.

Is that a bit like people with 4:3 ratio TVs complaining about letterboxed films because the film didn't fill their screen? Ignoring that if it wasn't letterboxed then they wouldn't see all of the film?

What ratio was the film originally made in?
I prefer older films, most of which are made in Academy ratio (1.37:1) which is pretty close to the 4:3 ratio used by my old TV. So I can't see much point in going widescreen just yet,

Steve
