Default Old War Films

Hi,
I collect old films and have been trying to get a copy of the following films:

Tell England (1931) by Anthony Asquith,
The Steel Bayonet, GB, (1957) and
Yesterday's Enemy, GB, (1959)

I know that these films are very rare and wonder if any member can help me in obtaining a copy of the films.

I look forward to hearing from any member accordingly.

Many thanks,

Bobs1900

Hi!

I just registered as a member and am from the States. I am a collector of war films (I have about 1500). I have The Steel Bayonet with Leo Genn and Yesterday's Enemy with Stanley Baker (both are NTSC format and are from TV --> B+ quality).

I do not have Tell England and have been searching for this title for years. I do know The Imperial War Museum showed the movie a few years ago as part of a commemoration of the Gallipoli Campaign. I am happy to trade.

I am looking for the following UK titles:

Escape To Danger (1943; Eric Portman)
Lilli Marlene (1950; Hugh McDermott)
The Lisbon Story (1946; David Farrar)
An Englishman's Home (1939; Edmund Gwenn)
Night Invader (1943; David Farrar)
Over the Top (1918; Arthur Guy Empey)
Schweik's New Adventures (1943; George Carney)
Shadow of Fear (1963; Paul Maxwell)
The Silent Battle (1939; Rex Harrison)
Spies of the Air (1939; Roger Livesey)
Squadron Leader X (1943; Eric Portman)
Tarnished Heroes (1961; Anton Rodgers)
Uncensored (1942; Phyllis Calvert)
The Valiant (1962; John Mills)

I am also looking for about 55 US / International titles.

Cheers.

Brian

Good luck hunting for Squadron Leader X (1943), I've been after that one for a few years. I haven't found any sign of it.

Yes, that's a sad list that one. Although, on the bright side, since the BFI made it, and the documentary & book to go with it, some of them have been found. So making the list did do some good and we still have hopes that some others might turn up.

And the ones that have been found includes His Lordship by Michael Powell. He might have been dismissive of it but it is really rather good. There aren't many films where you get a heroine named Lenina, two comedy Bolsheviks and a chorus line of singing housemaids!
