Best British musicals in my humble opinion:

OLIVER

SCROOGE (1970)

MY FAIR LADY

THE SOUND OF MUSIC (was that British...well, whatever...)

OH WHAT A LOVELY WAR ( circa 1970)

THE MUSIC LOVERS ( circa 1970)

I'm sure there are other that I just can't think of right now.

Britain is not famed for its musical, and I'm not really a fan of this genre, but anyone offer any recommendations? Incidently, The Sound of Music & My Fair Lady are US films, and The Music Lovers is not a musical.

There are a number of British musicals already available to view in the BFI Mediatheque including:

SING AS WE GO! (1934)
SAY IT WITH FLOWERS (1934)
LONDON TOWN (1946)
LES BICYCLETTES DE BELSIZE (1968)

FIRST A GIRL (1935) will be available in the Mediatheque from July.

Ivor Novello's "The Dancing Years" (1948) and "King's Rhaposdy" (1955). He probably did more, but I remember being dragged by my mother to both of these--she was a great fan of Novello's.

"We'll gather licacs in the Spring again..." maybe not with global warning.
