Anyone have a copy of this one on DVD?

Wonder why this one has never been re-released? I think it has a certain 'charm' of it's own. What do others think?

I agree, it does have a certain 'kitsch' charm. Even at the time it was way off the mark, but it's quite interesting nevertheless, as one of Hammer's attempted changes of direction ; even if it didn't come off. I find James Olsen a hard actor to watch - a bit mannered. But Catherine Schell in the overheating spaceship...well

Adrienne Corri is usually reliable, whatever the role - and Warren Mitchell was just enjoying himself, I think.

And for years the space suits and some props from this one could quite clearly be spotted in other, even lower budget, British SF films and TV....

Anybody know where I might get hold of a DVD or even, God forbid, a VHS copy of Hammer's Moon Zero Two?

    Cheers.

This was released on DVD in the US on a double-bill with WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH initially as a Best Buy exclusive. Before it could go on general sale it was withdrawn because the G-rating on the sleeve didn't match the content of the uncut WDRTE...we're still waiting for it to be reissued with a corrected cover, though you can find copies on eBay at around double the original price. It seems copies weren't actually pulled from Best Buys and are still out there on shelves in some of the shops.

Thanks for that comprehensive response, asiamiles. I must admit, I did see the double bill with When Dinosaurs... out the on the Internet but there's no way I wanted to pay 60 or 70 quid for the both of them.

I should have rephrased the original question, Anybody know where I might get hold of a sensibly priced DVD or VHS copy of Hammer's Moon Zero Two?

Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing WDRTE again.

They seem to be available for around $40 now, but I think I'd wait as surely Warner will get around to reprinting the covers.

I wonder if Julie Driscoll's marvellous theme song to the movie was ever commercially released.

Never under the auspices of Hammer as far as I am aware. The company only exploited vinyl for the Chris Lee DRACULA record and THE LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES, both of which were (I think) early 1970s.

Don't know if MZ2 was on the GDI Records compilations, as I am at work at the moment and can't recall off the top of my head. I'll try to remember to look and update when I get back from taking the cat to the vet tonight...

I used to have it on a Hammer music compilation on cassette, but it was a very ropey copy taken from a film print.

Hope puss is OK, by the way.

Thanks LB - it's her regular check up, so it's paws crossed once again; she's quite an old girl at 17 and a half. It's testing to see if she needs her dosages changed for Thyroid...

My two are terrible travellers. We never get much further than two miles from our house before one or other is sick, and there is generally poo to contend with on longer journeys.

Little one is generally quiet, but had it been the big B&W one we would have had singing all the way, even on the very short trip to the vets...

Tonight resulted in another blood test and a 'wait and see'. Since her twin bro died two and a half years ago, every day is a bonus.

Sister (Tara) on the left with her twin brother (Steed) on the right. A cat less like Steed you could never imagine - his 'for short' name for most of his life was The Stig, given to him after many youthful romps across the compost heap at the bottom of the garden - his 'Dump'...
