Has anybody got this THEATRICAL TRAILER the original Brritish one? I know it will be virtually the same as its USA title THE CREEPING UNKNOWN, but it most likely had the voiceover done by either Valentine Dyall or probably Tim Turner. I have all the other QUATERMASS trailers but this one still eludes me! HELP!

Trailers are great, especially the old ones---you get the best bits of the film and usually the ending too.

There seems to be a number of trailer compilations released in America but Region 2 ones are few and far between.

If anyone has a link to some Region 2's I'd be gratefull.

I've got a trailer for this as THE CREEPING UNKNOWN on an old VHS and on DVD.

You can find it on the American DVD THE HORROR OF HAMMER, released by All Day Entertainment.

I have all my tapes and DVDs databased with info on which trailers are on each disc/tape etc and I've never seen a UK trailer for this either.

These days, unlike during earlier decades, when cinemas used to hire a trailer for a week from the National Screen Service in Perivale, Middlesex and then return it to the NSS after the weeks run, I am told that the cinemas today buy the trailers outright from the distributors and then they're either junked or taken home by the projectionist when they're no longer needed. This would account for the many modern trailers for modern films to be found on eBay, although once in a blue moon, a seller has for sale a much older, vintage trailer.

I bought one for a tenner a few years ago from an eBay seller. It was a complete, unmarked 35mm Technicolor sound trailer for the 1973 version of Swallows and Amazons (released in 1974). In beautiful condition, with neither a scratch on it, nor a splice in it anywhere. I would say it runs about three minutes. I've no way of running it though, or transferring it to DVD. But it would be nice to see it run one day. Meanwhile, it resides on a shelf in my cupboard.

Here I go again, can anyone tell me why the original UK trailer to this Hammer film is so hard to come by ? I have asked about this for years but it seems to have disappeared I have never seen it and wondered why this is? Surely there must be something in the Hammer vaults or it is lieing around in some private collection, there must have been more than one copy when it was shown in cinemas so how come every copy could possibly disappear? All the other trailers are available to the other 2 films including the USA versions. including this films USA trailer THE CREEPING UNKNOWN.

    Hi

The home Cinema I visited Friday for the Hammer trailer film night projected quite a number of orig trailers. I tried to note some of them on paper and in the dark for my movie visit diary so here are a few I can just about make out.

Creeping Unknown, The Devils Bride, Enemy from Space.

Yeah thanks I have THE CREEPING UNKNOWN it probably as the same narration as its British counter part same as ENEMY FROM SPACE does with QUATERMASS II.It more than likely has Valentine Dyall doing the voice-over as well.Only QUATERMASS AND THE PIT differs in this way from the USA version, FIVE MILLION YEARS TO EARTH .I have dozens of Hammer trailers, love 'em.

Hi. Yup they sure are great and we got through something like 30 I think from Hammer on Friday. One thing that did strike me was just how scary some of them were when viewing in a dark auditorium albeit it a home Cinema. When these films came out it must have been scary viewing with such saturated colour and great costumes, let alone the superb acting and direction. Like you I love trailers and we certainly got through a few last week.
