The original story was by Robert Holmes and "Spearhead from Space", Jon Pertwee's debut DOCTOR WHO adventure, bears remarkable resemblance to it in many ways. "Spearhead" was written by Mr. Holmes in 1969!

I actually managed to obtain a VHS copy of this in the early 00s through the website Blackstar.co.uk (now Sendit.com), but then sold it online a few years later.
