Default The Brothers (1972-76) DVD?

Does anyone know anything about the DVD of the '70s TV series 'The Brothers'?

I've only managed to find it in one place: The Brothers (Series 1) - DVD & VHS - MovieMail UK

& it's quite expensive. I don't understand why there's no reference to it on amazon.co.uk or on ebay.

Was it a very limited release?

Any info would be much appreciated, as well as any leads for a more reasonably priced copy.

I don't think £23.99 is that unreasonable.

I don't know the answer to this question I'm afraid, but it was interesting to see Patrick O'Connell (the oldest brother?) in The McKenzie Break which was on TV a few days ago. This film was some years before The Brothers I think.

I don't think you will find many DVD sets cheaper than that. It does after all cover the first series. It's great news it is available after all this time, one I've been waiting for.

No, neither do I...I just wanted to see if there were any alternatives to the one I found. So thank you very much for the link. I prefer to buy this sort of thing from amazon...creature of habit.

Great news that it's available...though I do think this is the sort of thing they should run on the minor satellite channels...instead of the endless repeats. Rant over.

That's what my aunt says - it's all relatives

When you two wags have quite finished...

DDHE had firm plans to release Series Two late this year. Sadly, when they went down the pan, so did any further releases. And with no plans by 2|entertain to take on the series, it looks as if we'll have to be content with Series One for the time being.

I bought the first series of The Brothers from Foxy.co.uk last week for just £13.95 !!! They are out of stock again at the moment but if you register your interest with them they will email you as soon as it comes back in.

I'm just watching this series at present, very interesting...In todays world it may well be considered an "advertisment" for lung cancer, I don't think I've ever seen a series with so many people puffing away of cigarettes or cigars! I'm sure Tedward takes them to bed with him

That and the naff '70's fashions aside, it was an enjoyable series, mainly because the characters were interesting. One thing occured to me, so here's a question...
Have a think about this one for a moment, then I'll give the answer further below. Q; What's a common denometer in the series of The Brothers, Steptoe and Son, Only Fools and Horses, and Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier (the book)

A; A key character, central to the series, is one we never saw, yet we can build a picture of them from what we a told in the series. Robert Hammond (Father) Mrs Steptoe (Mother) Del and Rodney's Mother, and Rebecca in the story.

Trivia point? Not exactly trivia in my opnion, because each time the character emerged slowly over a period of time, and it added to the suspense of The Brothers series I felt.

It's a BBC series, so Network wouldn't.
