Default Unknown TV series .....

Probably from the 80s (maybe even late 70s?), series about a married woman withchildren, living a relatively affluent life, husband something in The City. But he leaves the wife and children and she has to move to the country.

Series centres around the difficulties she faces as a single mother, suddenly no longer affluent living, adapting to and being accepted into life in the country.

Sorry, should've mentioned it - a UK series.

IIRC, the actress who played the wife/mother was blonde, and not unattractive either .....

Was Wendy Craig blonde in 1971, in 1969 she was not from the programmes I have with her in!

Tks, but not And Mother Makes Three - the one I'm thinking about was not a comedy.

So it could be And Mother Makes Three then?
Ooh, that's cruel

Strange, I really liked Butterflies but just didn't seem to get into this one at all.

It sounds like "Heart of the country" by Fay Weldon. Came out around the same time as Life and loves of a She Devil. I've got a copy and it's a marvelous series.

Tks, but not that one - much earlier than 1987.

I vaguely remember a series around this time in which the husband who was a Government Scientist of some sorts disappeared and there was some sort of cover up.
Could it have been this one? Sorry I can't recall the name of it.

A Winter Harvest 1984 starring the lovely Cheryl Campbell.

No, not that one.

The plot was pretty much as I described it above - extremely well-to-do family, husband leaves wife, wife moves to country with kids, series centres around wife trying to "come down" from previous rich life and change her expectations, and attitudes towards her from country people.

I'm giving this a bump now because on Saturday night, ABC TV (Aus ABC that is) started a new series Bed of Roses about a wealthy woman whose husband dies and leaves her bankrupt. She has to sell up everything just to cover debts and loans, then move to a run down house in the country with her daughter.

The series will centre around her and her daughter living in the country and adapting to a much less affluent lifestyle than she was used to. Talk about deja-vue!!
