Default Ray Davies (The Kinks) in TV Play (early 60's)

I have a record of dubious legal pedigree ("Bought it second hand your honour") which features what is probably a demo recording of Ray Davies singing one of his own songs "All Night Stand". It sounds like an early 60's recording. According to the liner notes the song was written for a TV play Ray appeared in. Anyone have any idea what this might have been ?

Ray Davis was in Play for Today - The Long Distance Piano Player 1970
but All Night Stand was from 1966
so maybe he just used this song in this play

Could be either "Long Distance Piano Player" or "Starmaker" but it doesn't ring a bell. I don't recall it in "Return To Waterloo" where Davies had a guest appearance. There was also "Preservation Act", an "opera", which I think was partly televised.

Definitely pre "Preservation Act" Sippog. For some reason I've still got an inkling for early 60's social realism. maybe i'm kidding myself (again ?).

According to Doug Hinman’s book “The Kinks: All Day and All of the Night”, the song dates from around late 1965 and may have been intended as “the title song for a film”. As there is no further mention of this in the book (which is heavily researched) I assume the film was never made, and the demo ended up on bootleg albums.

The book also mentions that a version of the song was recorded by a band called “The Thoughs” in 1966.
