Is that the one where they revealed how much he "adjusted" the facts to fit his family history?

Roots was a great story and would have still been a great story if he hadn't claimed to have found his ancestral trail all the way back to the village in Africa. He could have still done the same charity work but faking the results does leave him open to claims of falsehood.
