Family at War has one of the best episodes of TV that could stand alone as a single drama - 'The Things You Never Told Me', with the resolution of the story between Lesley Nunnerly's character, her husband back from war and the trials with the mother-in-law played by Margery Mason and Patrick Troughton as her husband. All four actors are just fantastic in it...

I'm not quite sure a program set in a specific time period can ever be "dated" .....

When this series was broadcast in Australia, I was living in Newcastle NSW and can always remember my mother talking about the English family who lived across the road, and the mother of that family (with whom my mother was close friends) could not watch the program (Friday nights on ABC television) because it brought back too many memories of her childhood spent in London during the war.

This is war Wilson, not Sainsburys!

how could that show ever be dated, its in a wee time capsule all of its very own, wonderful actiong and script. wish it would return, even as new version. wonderful.
