Kolya's Nightmare: Alexei Romanov's best friend speaks
I'm trying to track down a Russian Documentary called Kolya's Nightmare. It contains movie clips from "Nicholas and Alexandra" and other, mostly Russian, movies about the Romanov's Murder.
But the greatest part of the movie is an interview with Alexei's best friend, Kolya Deverenko(the son of a court doctor).
Trying to track it down is proving much more difficult than I at first presumed. I was advised that a British Documentary about the Romanovs in the mid 90's including extensive excerpts from the original feature.
Youtube has a 8 minute excerpt but only part of it centers on Kolya and memories. And, unfortunately, it is all in Russian.
The significance of this Russian Documentary cannot be underestimated. Alexei's last letter from Ekaterinburg was addressed to Kolya. It was written a few days before Ekaterinburg Soviet Leader Sverdlov gave the order to Jacob Yurovsky to "wipe out" the Czar's family. Despite protestations from Trotsky, we now know that the order to murder was signed off by Lenin and Trotsky.
This interview isn't about history. It is history.
Any help tracking the original Russian Documentary or the British Documentary that was in part derived from it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian Keith O'Hara
