Default Early 60's Sci-Fi TV Programme? Help?

Around 1964-65 I vividly remember a tv programme (sc-fi?) about a pilot of a 'spaceship' that was being safely returned to earth; the instructions were being transmitted to the pilot steering the craft by a Female voice (British) there was a huge bank of switches ansd levers in front of this pilot, and would press them according to his relayed information-for some reason I thought the wordage of this tv programme contained the word 'Stranger' (or) at least had this word in the title, but, though it has intrigued me for decades I've not been able to source anything-Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks.

It could be Armchair Theatre - The Man Out There from 1961 starring Patrick Macgooan.

Hi! have managed to source it (I think) 'The Stranger' ABC Network from Australia! shown here in two parts apparently-though dont know if any collectors have it on DVD/VHS over there?? It was children's Sci-fi I should have said.

I remember The Stranger very well. It was shown in Britain as 2 6 part serials. I have been trying to ascertain whether or not it still exists. There was a book published based on the serial.
