Default Those trade test transmissions!!

Hi there
- cant believe i have just stumbled on this forum! i have such fond memories of sitting with a glass of Vimto watching these great films after school ended and before the kids programmes started. My personal favourite was the Canadian Pacific film called Multiplicity...long lost in some dusty archive i'm sure. can anyone one else recall any scenes...the railroad segments were brilliant and the music excellent too. I noticed some DVD's do exist of the other films, is anyone trading or swopping??

Thanks for the memories!

1st time poster here - I'm entranced at the prospect of watching some of the old Trade Test Transmissions. I've really enjoyed watching Evoluon this morning and my appetite has been wetted...

I particularly liked 'On The Safe Side', "Heart of Glass" and a few others.

I watched them when I was about 5-7 years old, and have always felt that the memories would be all I had.

If anyone could assist me in obtaining one of these largish sets of DVDs containing most of the TTTs, I would be happy to pay them well for their time, effort and 'administration'. If needs be I can supply discs and what have you.

If anyone could help me, and has an idea what their 'administrative' charge might be, as I do understand that there is a fair bit of work involved.

Many thanks,

Martin.

I just came across this forum and I am a new member.

One film I've been searching for years is "Coupe Des Alps" a relative of mine is in this film.

I'm especially interested in this one obviously, but I would be happy to have all the films that are available as I remember watching them when I was a kid.

Please anyone who can help, pm me with details of cost etc.

TIA Sam

Post BBC2 Trade Test Films

The BP film library have no plans to release some of their old films used by the BBC as TV Trade Test Colour films back in the 70-80s on their web site.

How much support would I get from this forum to launch a petition to them to change their minds?

Its not as if they will ever earn any money from sitting on these old films. They may as well make them available as a public archive.

I'd love to watch some of those classic British films again. Gantegallo and The Cattle Carters etc. Sooo... cool.

Where are the prints/negs currently being stored ?

Perhaps if they donated them to the BFI (as with the BTF library), something may happen.....

hsoller,
I think the members of this forum (myself included) would push in serious numbers for release of the most popular titles. Properly marketed and packaged they could do well in the ever growing nostalgia market. I would love to be able to purchase these myself.

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

There is indeed a 'nostalgia market' for material of this kind to be released onto DVD. You have to understand though that this specialist market is small, and the chances of such releases commercially breaking even (let alone making a profit) would be somewhat slim.

The only realistic proposition to see these titles released into the market place would be (as has been suggested above) a donation of the library (or a set of prints) to the bfi.
