I'm looking for a tv series from the 80's called Truckers.
I think it only ran for 1 series and I also think (but may be wrong)
that Michael Elphick was in it.
I know this is a long shot as nobody I've spoken to remembers it
or knows of it.
Any help would be great. Thank you.
Steve.

Hi Steve,
If you are you thinking of the Terry Pratchett tv series, I too, have been after this but only have managed to track down video copies on ebay, this is where you have to be careful, parting with hard earned money for duff copies can be disappointing, so you'll have to weigh up the pros and cons of just how much you want Truckers. This was a super little series and I just might get this regardless, as of yet I haven't seen a release on dvd. It's just my luck that after I spend a fortune in time and money in searching for something, some company brings it out on dvd anyway, Bah!

No I dont think its the terry pratchett series, I've read about that, I'm sure thats a childrens book or something, I'm after a tv series which was not really suitable for children, I think it was about some shifty looking blokes in trucks and it was a bit violent.

Hi Steve,
Ok, look up the info at IMDb and see if that helps.

Hi Steve

I remember when I started in this forum and kept seeing the letters IMDb and wondering what it was. It stands for the Internet Movie Database. You can find it here.
The Internet Movie Database (IMDb)
Put it in your favourites/bookmarks, you'll find you'll be using it quite a bit
It should come as part of the start-up pack for everyone that uses a computer.

It's not perfect, what reference source is? But it's pretty close to it.

The information is contributed by film fans such as us, especially for older films, with everyone contributing whatever they know about and the database making it available to all and with great search and cross-reference facilities.

Steve

I remember this series very well, Picards yard is beside the M62 J7 Widnes, the portakabin offices are still there too, they filmed the scene with the Nicky Blair truck chase near Chwilog Cricieth, a mate of mine saw all the trucks parked up on the seafront in Cricieth inbetween shots, we were still in school at the time.Truck drivers at the time said it was crap and insulting to the business, but Id love to see it again, very under rated. One episode that really sticks in my mind is the one where the customer that owed money was hauled back from Spain in that sedatki with the fridge trailer after being trapped into looking at something in the back, the driver shut the back doors on him,set the fridge to minus 25, and drove back to the UK. He stopped every so often asking if he was going to pay up,every time the answer was no the doors were slammed shut again and the jouney continued,he had icicles hanging off him towards the end. Every time I have to go into the trailer of my fridge truck I always keep my mobile on me incase some fucker locks me in. Another none paying customer was threatened with bags of cement to be thrown into his carp pond at a large house. The bloke who really owned the lonesome cowboys black Mack stopped at a chippy one evening at Porthmadog, I recognized him from an article in a truck mag and had a chat with him and his missus, he had just bought a newer white Mack,it had been a couple of years since the series.Happy days!

The Black Mack owner was my father, who sadley passed away last month. We remeber the series very well as we have every episode ever made on video. It was a great series you are right and if only I had have seen this posting sooner then my father would have loved it that people remembered it. The Black Mack went a long time ago but it was always a talking point wherever he went in it, but being a continental driver that wagon was more famous on the continent than over here. He enjoyed filming the series as he had to do all the driving, and the series was actually based on people that worked for a company called sealand and every character was known. True to the series my father was in fact the lonesome cowboy. but hopefully, he didnt get up to half the things it was based on, ha ha. I really miss my dad and I am really pleased that he is remembered even for his wagon. Thanks for remembering.

Firstly, what a sad story about your father. I remember watching him in his Mack when my copies arrived a few months ago. I didn't think anybody would remember the series, but its nice to see this thread has provoked a little interest.
As far as I know, the actor who played Picard passed away too in recent years.
Thank you for your response. Once again condolences to you.

Steve.

Hello. I came across this through Google yesterday at work and it really knocked me six. I used to work with Kevin on his ambulance. We lost touch a few years back, and I didn't know he'd passed away. My deepest sympathies to you all.

Kevin was a great and true friend, as well as something of a mentor to me, and I've missed him over the last few years since we last met up. I have many fond and happy memories of our working together, and his many jokes and anecdotes.

I'd never heard of Truckers, but Kevin talked about it a few times, and his time on the trucks. I could tell from him that he loved it, and it held many happy memories for him. He once showed me a video of an episode and I loved it. It was a good series from what I saw and would love to see all of it sometime.

All the very best wishes to you all.

Jim Robinson
