Default The Gravy Train - Malcolm Bradbury

Did anyone see - or record - the 1990 tv mini-series, THE GRAVY TRAIN (or the sequel, The Gravy Train goes East), written by Malcolm Bradbury? I missed it, but having watched Blott on the Landscape and In the Red, two excellent mini-series, again with Bradbury as scriptwriter, perhaps I missed something good. Certainly, it seems to have good ratings but, as with a lot of good television, has never been commercially released.

Smile The Gravy Train

Hi, does anyone know where or even if I can buy a video or DVD of the mini series The Gravy Train and The Gravy Train goes East. I have emailed the Portman Film Group but they said the rights to the programmes lies with Channel 4. I have emailed them but not (as yet) had a response. Not many people seem to have watched these programmes but I'm hoping someone out there can help. Thanks

Hi,
I can't help you but I can commiserate with you as I, too, have been looking for both this and the sequel for some time. Never did see the series but, having watched Malcolm Bradbury's excellent trilogy "In the Red" I am sure it will be worth watching. Unless there is someone out there who may have recorded it, I guess we will have to wait and hope it will be issued commercially eventually.
Good Luck,
Pete

Hi Pete
Thanks for the info. I saw the first series and it was excellent but missed the second, I'm sure it was just as good. I emailed Portman Films but they said the rights were with channel 4. I contacted them and eventually got through to the right department. Apparently both series were released on Video back in the 90's The only suggestion they made was to try and buy them second hand so I am trawling through sites to see if anyone has them! If I do get it do you want me to let you know?

I haven't seen "In the Red" but now I'm intrigued so I shall have to watch it if I can.
All the Best
Angela
