This issue is so complicated, both legally and ethically, that one is bound to fall foul of it somewhere along the line. Modular's point about people not wanting to shell out hard-earned cash to replace a perfectly OK bootleg with a legit release is very valid. Like marker this has happened to me on two or three occasions. In one instance, as the film wasn't something that I had a special passion for I kept the bootleg (and have still got it), but the other two I re-sold on ebay, am I now a bootlegger myself! Because the market for the films which we have an interest in is so small it's unlikely that many of the type of films that I particularly wish to add to my collection, B movie crime thrillers etc, will become available via retailers. Therefore I get them when and where I can. But they do come out sometimes, so you have to keep looking at the new releases that are announced periodically, 'cos you will often find what you have wanted for ages is about to be released. Two others I have recently replaced are Prize of Arms and Daughter of Darkness, both originally acquired via this site. I have to say I agree with modular for a change when he says that the sort of stuff we sell is 'small potatoes' to the big distributors. The stuff I buy I usually I get from people who make no claims that their stuff is legit, but do not sell stuff that can be bought via retail. They will, in fact remove stuff from their lists when it is released in legit form. I content myself with knowing that I do the best I can not to buy stuff that is available in legit form. Now, if anyone has a copy of The Lost People they don't want ......
