I remember watching the show that night, and the only thing going through my mind was that the great man was not his usual genius self. Like everyone else, the bit when he passed out,I thought it was part of the act. It was when I went out for a drink, someone told me that Tommy Cooper had died on stage and I just thought,"Yeah,he wasn't that good tonight" (as in,poor performers who do "die" on stage),until it clicked he had literally died.
A great comedian,a one off. In fact 1984 was the year we saw the death of two great comedians,Tommy Cooper and Eric Morecambe. Ta Ta Marky B
