A late slot for the saucy antics of Frankie Howerd as Ali Oopla, bond-servant to the Wazir of Baghdad. And so it came to pass that this was a reworking of the Up Pompeii! formula, plain and simple, with Howerd himself commenting that the show featured 'new costumes but the same old jokes'. The prominent cleavages, bejewelled midriffs and naked thighs of harem girls decorated the set while the usual direct-to-camera double entendres, malapropisms, lame puns, dodgy names (lots of people called Mustapha...), readings and sharing of confidences filled every moment of every episode. For Howerd, this sort of performance was as easy as falling off a magic carpet.
