The teenage son of a friend of mine has to do an essay about research and has to conduct a survey to illustrate various survey techniques. As part of this he has decided to use ''Favourite Films by Famous Directors'' as his research subject. He has selected 6 directors and would like film fans to list their favourite film by each of these directors and then he will do whatever it is he is going to do with the results. He is gathering this information from a variety of sources, including going out on the streets with a clipboard and harassing members of the public. If anyone wishes to provide this info he (and I) would be very grateful. He needs the information by the end of the month.

    Thank you.

I will start the ball rolling ......

    Orson Welles
    Touch of Evil

    Akira Kurosawa
    Stray Dog

    Powell/Pressburger
    The Small Back Room

    David Lean
    Oliver Twist

    Alfred Hitchcock
    The 39 Steps

    Steven Spielberg
    Jaws

The Third Man wasn't directed by Welles. It was directed by Carol Reed.

Well the only other film I've seen is "Citizen Kane".....one of the most over-rated films of all time IMHO...
