Some good acting and a few interesting new directors. That's all I can think of.

That's a good one because I'm struggling to think of any strengths the Industry has at this moment in time, it just looks bleak, real bleak! Some say the Harry Potter film series is one of the major sucess' of the British film industry but they are not really facing up to the fact that they are in fact US produced films.

I'd say the tax breaks on ofer were a benefit for low-budget filmmakers. London to Brighton was made on a shoestring and Meadows seems to get by making a picture for a couple of million.

But if there were ever to be seriously big money involved what would happen? I daresay no globally serious money will ever be invested here because the investor knows exactly what would happen to it. That's why all our people soon end up in America.

But then, perhaps you are right on the button. Guerilla film-making is our strength.

Has anybody ever invested serious money here without it being to take advantage of tax breaks or the levy? The only thing that would attract such investment now would be if we were able to compete with Romania budget-wise (highly unlikely).
