"Difficult to join" was the comparative phrase and I presumed the study might span years or decades in the film-industry, as opposed to "Difficult to join film industry today rather than dental industry".

But then, Bec wonders about women not choosing the film-industry, too, so the other career paths comes to mind.

(Moor, even if Bec's retreated to the library and your well-directed options, it's always a topic interesting to me. Personally, I'd be surprised if the numbers of women in the film industry haven't increased, but proportionally compared to the industry's employment level? Yes, I'd think so - I doubt there's a lot of Men Only signs when it comes to good money-making talent... and gosh, we all know how rich the movie industry is getting, right? ha ha)

Today's industry cannot be separated from yesterdays, since the history of the industry affects the whole. Today is not isolated from yesterday.

Your point about the Eras of the industry is a good one. It may not interest the study presented to the student, but, if so, that is down to the short-sightedness and limitations of the education rather than the subject

How I wish film history was taught to film students in depth. The simple buff often knows fathoms more about cinema than the new graduate from film school.

I have noticed that man is under-represented in exotic dancing industry - when I go to Teasers it is just woman after woman shoving her cleavage under my face or grinding away in my lap. Where can I sign up for university course examining this phenomenon? I am sure it will improve my career prospects no end.

Moor, it too has been on my Must-Buy lists but, alas, no DVD is available. We'll keep in touch over this, though. It's a great little film, and I'm surprised that it hasn't bubbled up into the DVD production channels. I've always wondered what Laurie thought of this film...

I can't think where the reference is just now, but I think I did find something about the 'meeting', to the effect that Laurie was baffled but not annoyed at being found..... Of course, she never felt that she was lost!! But the I guess the fact that the person who 'found' her was a kind of friend may have made some difference.

The newspaper, The Daily Mail, over here runs a regular 'Lost & Found' feature, which is about old 'friends' looking for one another. One time someone was looking for Rosalie Crutchley, who had 'disappeared' after being a TV presenter/actress in the Fifties/Sixties. By chance I had a magazine with her on the cover and sent a copy to try and help...... Keeping track of the story, they eventually 'found' Ms. Crutchley. Her only objection to the whole process was that she had never 'disappeared'....... She knew exactly where she was at all times!! .....

Moor, it played here again last Fall, but I don't see it scheduled this Fall. We saw it here with it was originally released, then last year again. I suspect there are theatrical prints available so that's something-!

The wrong Rosalie of course. Ms. Crutchley remained in the public eye most of her life.
