Default Pupils and Teachers in British Cinema

I'm doing some research on representations of teacher-pupil relationships in British cinema and television - kickstarted by the recent films, The History Boys and Notes on a Scandal.

Some obvious things spring to mind, such as To Sir with Love, Please Sir (groan), The Browning Version(s), and Gregory's Two Girls.

However, if I'd be grateful if anyone can recall any other films and TV shows which have teacher-student relationships as either a main or secondary theme - particularly, as in the case of the recently release films, if they're a bit complicated or transgressive!

Thanks in advance!

You don't mean to say you've forgotten "Carry On Teacher", do you?

How about "It's Great to be Young", with Cecil Parker and John Mills?

"The Ghost of St Michael's" (Will Hay)

"The Guinea Pig" (Richard Attenborough)

That should give you a few to start off!

Regards

Term of Trial is an interesting but clunky kitchen sink drama with Olivier and Terence Stamp.

Not to forget the St Trinian films and The Happiest Days Of Your Life (a particular favourite) but these maybe not exactly what you're after. And doesn't Konga have a Professor/Sudent thing going on. And why the 'groan' with Please Sir? One of my favourite sitcom-film crossovers that at the very least has some schoolteacher to student morality within it.

The class of miss Macmichael, great film a bit to much in teacher and pupil relationships though.

Thanks, guys - there are some great titles here, some of which I'm now keen to get hold of. The Class of Miss Macmichael sounds intruiging, although I'm not so sure about Konga (sounds great, though).

I'm particularly interested in depictions of pupil-teacher relationships in non-public schools, and in films that are at the more "realist" end of the spectrum. So if any more spring to mind....

Cheers!
