i feel that film makers stereotype the north of england and the south. they show the south being pretty containing fields and flowers. on the other hand the north is shown to be grim and dull.

i feel this is greatly shown in 'This is England' and 'Bridget Jones' Diary'

let me know if you feel soial class and stereotypes are represented in films.

    thank you !!

Yes, so? Do you think this is incorrect? Have you been up north?

Where do you see the North beginning and/or the South ending?

I've seen pretty grim areas in most parts of the UK and some areas of outstanding beauty.

I'd be interested in your thoughts

I've lived in Yorks. and Hants. also over 2 years in Norfolk and I now live in West Lancs.

I can say that all parts have grim areas like chevy says and all parts have lovely areas. As for the cinema stereotyping people and places I think there is an element of truth in it.

I would agree also, there is a definite industrial, grey landscape painted in most films featuring anywhere from say Birmingham Northwards.

Whilst the southern counties always seem picturesque, sunny, friendly village rozzer cycling past a rose covered cottage type thing going on.

I'd also be interested in people's perception of Wales, especially the south.
