'It's time for tea and 'Meet The Wife'
from 'Good Morning Good Morning' on Sgt Pepper
(for younger viewers, 'Meet the Wife' was a comedy show with Thora Hird and Freddie Frinton)
I can't believe that this thread doesn't exist already. If it does, please merge it with the original.
I thought of it only because I'm listening to a bit of Squeeze recently, and while they have a huge range of excellent songs with brilliant lyrics, I have a special place in my heart for their hit from over 30 years ago Cool For Cats, with its wonderfully evocative summary of The Sweeney:
The Sweeney's doing ninety
'Cos they've got the word to go.
They've got a gang of villains
In a shed up at Heathrow.
They're counting out the fivers
As the handcuffs lock again.
In and out of Wandsworth
With the numbers on their names.
It's funny how their missus
Always looks the bleeding same.
And meanwhile at the station
There's a couple of likely lads,
Who swear like how's your father
And they're very cool for cats
They're cool for cats.
That's the whole TV show right there.
Any others?

Good call charliekane, and Brigger's reminded me of "Take the mick out of Top of the Pops - We play better than they do!" from the melancholic "Saturday Gigs"
The Trumpton Riots by Half Man Half Biscuit.
'YOU'RE IN A BAD WAY' - ST ETIENNE:
"Home from work, put the TV on. Get your kicks watching Bruce on the old GENERATION GAME"
Star Trekkin' by The Firm
Where's Captain Kirk? by Spizzenergi
I think Cool for cats is the only one I could have ever thought of. Although I think there are a couple of songs which mention News at 10, I can`t remember which ones though.
I believe `Carry on regardless` by the Beautiful south is a play on the carry on films, but that`s a film, obviously.
The Late Late Show in America was old movies which were broadcast in the early morning hours.
Hi,
I believe Superman and The Lone Ranger, have popped up in songs. And Doctor Who.
With regard to The 6-5 Special. If I recall there were two versions featured for the series. One with Bob Cort, and the other with Don Lang and his Frantic Five. Don I heard, was in every edition of the programme.

'KISS' - PRINCE:
"You don't have to watch DYNASTY to have an attitude"
Bruce Springsteen - I'm A Rocker
"Don't you call James Bond or Secret Agent man"
(Secret Agent being the American title of Danger Man, with its re-recorded theme song "Secret Agent Man")
I'm not ashamed of being ignorant! I always loved the track Secret Agent Man, but never realized it was plain old Danger Man in American pants! This was in the 80s, you see, when it wasn't all joined up. Amaaazing!
Here it is, presented by a very refreshed Judy Garland. Does TV get any better than this?
3 more (with a little help from work colleagues):
‘THE DAY BEFORE YOU CAME' - ABBA:
"There's not, I think, a single episode of "DALLAS that I didn't see"
‘MY PERFECT COUSIN' - THE UNDERTONES:
"He thinks that I'm a cabbage ‘cause I hate UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE"
‘COUNTRY HOUSE' - BLUR
"He's got morning glory and life's a different story, everything's going JACKANORY"
I think that there's as many TV progammes named after songs as there are songs named after TV programmes so maybe the thread should be entitled 'Quite good/interesting phrases/puns'?
