Default The First BritMovie Members Meeting - September 2008

Following the thread about “Does the BritMovie Forum ever meet”, I’d like to start this new thread as an administration for a proposed event. (Administrators – please don’t delete this immediately, let’s see if it runs.)

Here is a suggestion for anyone who wants to have an informal Britmovie meeting.

Organizing something for the whole forum would be impractical, so I would suggest taking advantage of an existing film-related event where everyone can meet if they want to.

On Thursday 25th September to Sunday 28th September, there is a Collectormania fair taking place in Milton Keynes. Admission is free and it’s the sort of event many of us on this board would attend. There are film and TV people selling their autographs (Ian Ogilvy is one confirmed) and stalls selling film posters, soundtrack CDs, film magazines etc – and at the last one there I was even able to buy DVD-Rs of “Night Train To Inverness”, “Weekend With Lulu” and more.

My idea is as follows. Those of you who are interested in meeting should print out a piece of A4 paper showing the logo of this board (or anything with a movie camera like http://www.nassaulibrary.org/hewlett/movie-camera.gif). Fold it into A6 size so that it can fit in to a badge holder or something similar. Add your board name in fairly large capital letters with an ink marker. Attend the event on the Sunday 28th September – if we spread it out over 4 days we would invariably miss each other – and wear your BritMovie badge around your neck, while checking out other guests to see if they are wearing theirs. You can even arrange individual meetings or take along any DVDs you may have arranged in advance to swap. There are coffee houses and food places and probably pubs (I don’t know – I don’t drink!)

The event area is actually rather small - it s a small part of a shopping mall, so you should be able to spot each other easily enough – and you can bump this thread to let people know if you are attending and at what time.

Now I know there are a lot of you out there who can’t easily get to Milton Keynes because there are people on this board from all over the world, but given that there is a three month gap between now and the event happening, it may allow those of you from further afield

Full details on the Collectormania fair are at Collectormania Milton Keynes and there are also details on how to get there and where to stay etc.

Let me know if you think this is a flyer – and maybe we’ll see you there….

I'm expecting to be in the UK during September.
If so, I'll work that into my itinerary.

I dropped in on the last Collectormania, so there's a strong chance I might turn up too...

Hope you have a good time. I'm here up North with a visiting friend so I can't make it, but send a postcard!

And what's all this about me having me leg off?

I've edited & reposted this because I discovered that the link in the original post didn't work:
