Default Intro

Hi,

I'm new (and presumably junior) member "starckers"

Glad to be added to this ever-growing site.

A a kid my faves were Swiss Family Robinson & 20,000 Leagues under the sea

Quickly gradated to Dr No and firmly a Bond fan.

Does anyone else watch Bond films (only with SC in) EVERY time they are shown on TV? even though I have the DVD's.

Will update soon.

No, but I can relate to that perfectly as I watch a certain lady whenever she is on despite having every available recording of hers.

Welcome to the mad house.

All the best

Hello fellow film buffs
I sort of wandered in here by mistake, but as I'm a film fan from way back I think I'll stick around.
When I say way back, I don't mean that far, but I can remember when the old Empire flicks in my town was still standing, and every other seat had been ripped out by the "Teds", and they had gas lights ! Ah happy days
Anyway, I think I'll have a little look round the place

Welcome Sid -

I have to say that the 'multi-generational' aspect of this site has always been brilliant for informed discussions. Look forward to your thoughts and notes from when our fave films were on in the cinemas rather than TV.

Cheers,

Smudge

Gas lights! Well, Sid, that makes me feel quite the young whippersnapper.
As far as I can recall, the first feature film I saw in a cinema (Kinema?)was On the Beat at the Trocadero, Elephant and Castle 1962. Sadly they must have knocked the theatre down soon after that, because the scout group I joined later used to meet for outings 'where the Trocadero used to be'.
At a younger age, I badgered people in the queue at the cartoon theatre at Waterloo Station to let me in with them, as for some reason kids had to be accompanied.
I have a much stronger memory of Zulu , which I think I saw up West, than I do of On the Beat - so I was clearly a discerning proto-movie buff even then :).

Funnily enough, the only specific film I remember seeing in the aforementioned Empire, or Fleapit, must have been in '62 or thereabouts...t'was Taras Bulba, Yul Brynner and Tony Curtis overacting there way through 16th century Ukraine as Cossacks. Thats probably why I was more interested in the decor than the film!
Regards
Sid
