Default vALDERMA

More than a handful of years ago, before C/4, when Jimmy Young Sang chart-
topping romantic ballads, when misbehaviour in the classroom was punished
by a caning, when you dreaded your parents discovering the details of your naughtiness (obligatory strapping at least), when narrow streets had scrubbed steps, polished brass door furniture, everyones Key was on a piece of string,
extractable via the letterbox, never interfered with. when T.V set's pictures
filled the screen with drunken lines, when Ena Sharples,Minnie Caldwell, and
Bobby the cat ruled Coronation Street, When the commercial break showed a
pimply- faced, down at heart teenager being offered the opportunity to buy a
jar of VALDERMA, this would promote a pock-free skin, and total admiration from the opposite sex. There you have an idiots explanation!!

Hello.

I found this place while searching for information about 'Sapphire and Steel'. I hope it isn't too heretical to say that I might be spending more time in the TV sections than in the ones dealing with films!

Hi there. I'm Alan - I've been around for a few years now. I'm really into the 1970/80's classic BBC stuff - like Auf Weidersain Pet, Paradise Club, the Beiderbecke stuff etc. Anything with a bit of wit and a decent storyline.

Alan

O yes, I forgot to say - I'm also into photography and motorcycling. Between that lot and my job (architect for HP), I keep fairly busy.

Is that architect for HP as in Hewlett Packard, Alan, or HP sauce

If its Hewlett P, all their buildings look the same to me! I've been to Palo Alto and to the Barcelona base, and they're very attractive! Or perhaps you are a computer architect, or a sauce one (open sauce, that is...oh well, I'll get me coat!)

Anyway, welcome to you and all other new arrivals

Question Intro

Hey,

Been trying to track down an early 80s british film version of Josephine Tey's Brat Farrar. Had only the slightest recollection of the mini-series which aired on pubic television in the late 80s. I remember it was engaging and from a nostalgia standpoint has a personal significance. In searching online, I was directed to this forum. Can't say that I'm nearly as experienced as others in British cinema to be very compelling in a forum like this but was hoping that someone might be able to direct me foreward.

Thanks

Default Just Another Introduction

Good Afternoon All

I'm here because I love Ealing comedies, Carry On films and anything by Hammer Horror.

Now I'm of an age when I can waste money on DVD's, I'm steadily building up my collection of films that caught my imagination as a child, especially those I used to see late on a Saturday night i.e. the BBC's 'Horror Double Bill'. Magic memories of my Dad coming home from the pub with a bucket of KFC and my brother & I sitting down to watch first the B&W film, then the colour, which was almost always Hammer.

Will now spend 8 years trawling through all the forum threads - hope to see you around.

Hi all
Newbie here, just like to say hi to everyone and I look forward to contributing to the forum.
My main film interests are pretty much anything from the late 60s & 70s, big fan of the Sweeney, favourite film is Quadrophenia.
And have a facination with 70s CCF films even though I can't find any!
