Hi, thanks for the tip off. I saw that 'Absurd' was being performed again in the West End, when I googled it. I'll have to see it! In the meantime do you know of any DVD or Video recordings of Absurd Person Singular, starring Maureen Lipman and Geoffrey Plamer? - I'd love to get a copy of it for my mother (who's also a big fan) for Christmas.

Hey, everybody. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Oh, I already did the latter one. OK.
My name's Ulrike, and though my heart's British I was born into a German body. I'm 36 and a trainend bookseller, though I have to work for a phone book publisher now. As you can very easily see I'm a huge fan of Bill Nighy, since some years, NOT since Pirates, NOT since Underworld. His work in stuff like The Lawless Heart, I Capture The Castle, Gideon's Daughter, Blow Dry or especially Still Crazy has made me curious about British films in general and I was infected instantly. My favourites are more the contemporary films, the comedies with a tragic undertone and heart, like some of the mentioned above. Some other British artists I really admire: Tony Head, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Laurie, Emma Thompson, Juliet Stevenson, Bill Bailey, Simon Pegg, Imelda Staunton, Tom Hollander, Alan Rickman (outside Harry Potter only), the Pythons, Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley, Tim Spall, Rowan Atkinson, and the books of Jasper Fforde. You see, there's still a lot I need to learn. ;) British shows in Germany mean: Mr. Bean, All Things Great and Small, Upstairs Downstairs. Bottom line. So I was happy to be introduced with the time to shows like Black Books, Manchild, State Of Play, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Spaced, People Like Us, Blackadder, A Bit Of Fry And Laurie. Confessed, I'm a sucker for British comedy, but I hope that this is the right place to be infected with some ''serious'' stuff as well. The only British things I really can't get into are Hugh Grant and Marmite. That's me. :) Last edited by StrangeFruit42; 13-12-2007 at 11:50 PM. |
