Hi Steve

Thanks for replying and welcoming me to the Site. I will happily scan the picture in with the hope that somebody can identify the actor - if you just give me directions on how to do it that is....

The first thing you must do is to put the picture somewhere where people can see it. If it's on your computer then you can see it but we can't. If we let people put pictures directly into their messages on this site then we'd soon be overloaded with pictures, especially as most people include them when they quote messages in replies. The system would soon get overloaded. That's what happened to an earlier version of this system.

So instead, we ask people to sign up at an image hosting site like Photo Bucket which are especially designed to hold lots of pictures. There are quite a few free image hosting sites like that.

When you've uploaded your picture to the image hosting site, copy the address where they are storing the image and come back here.

When you reply to a message (by hitting the button) there are various little icons arranged above the box where you type the message. Click on the icon and it'll ask for the URL (address) of your image (picture).

Default New member ~ Hello

Hi I am just saying hello for the first time. My main interests, outside mountaineering and art are audio but there are of course visual elements to those interests. Like the better films relating to TIBET.

Early Jazz up to around 1935 is a great interest; I have and have always wondered if there would be any film of Bix Beiderbecke in a can somewhere. Back in the UK it is the wireless programmes I grew up with from the early 50's. One of those was 'Gert and Daisy' which is what brought me here, I was searching for Audio, I have only found one CD of songs available and one film so far, I saw recorded other films that I did not know 'G & D Clean up'. While looking for that I came across this site so look forward to finding out about he miriad of early British films that as yet I do not know exist.

Hello Paul, welcome to the BritMovie forum.

There's an Italian film called Bix (1991). But I've never seen it so I don't know what it's like. But what I do know is the Beiderbecke trilogy of TV series which has the music of Bix running throughout them. They're very well written stories by Alan Plater, very well performed by James Bolam & Barbara Flynn.

"The Beiderbecke Affair" (1985)
"The Beiderbecke Tapes" (1987)
"The Beiderbecke Connection" (1988)

As reported elsewhere .... Judy Geeson lives and works in the US and Sally Geeson is married to producer William G Stewart and was last reported working as a teacher.

Default New Member Introduction

Hi fellow members

Its great to see so many lovers of british films sharing their passion on this site.

I stumbled across it whilst in search of a rare movie for my Father In-Law, (A Quiet Wedding 1940) the link took me here becausea member was on the same search.

I confess not to being an 'avid' buff but definately prefer a classic homespun film to this continual non-sensicle dross at the modern cinema.

Even films like Lord of the Rings, beautiful though it may be to look at, is full of comments and emotions that would never happen in reality. It seems to me however, that when they made films in the past they would first ask themselves the question; "what would I have said if that had happened to me?" or "what would I have done?".

Anyway, great to join you and look forward to some challenging debates in the future.

Kind regards

Paul

I would just like to introduce myself briefly - I am a college professor in Boston, Massachusetts and really enjoy older UK films. I am a purist in that black and white films must be watched in black and white.

My favorite UK film (surprisingly) isn't black and white but it was the first UK film that stayed with me and made me want to visit England - Theater of Blood. There are several more that I am anxious to discuss on the boards.

Must go read compositions.

Thanks, Angela

Default Hello

It's good to see that there are loads of enthusiasts of British TV and Film out there and surprising how much is available amongst enthusiasts.

I've an interest in 1960s and 70s variety shows which I can remember as a staple of British TV but now seem to have long gone. It's been amusing reading some threads on this forum and others about how it's been decided that the public do not want these shows anymore!

I'm also really interested in technology and am fascinated to see how the archives will be opened up in the coming years.
