Smile Film/TV Locations in East of England

Hello fellow British film fanatics.

aI'm here to find information on film and television productions shot on location in the East of England (Herts, Cambs, Beds, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex). I'll mainly be posting in the Location, Location, Location forum on specific titles. Hope to benefit from the huge amount of knowledge on display here.

Thanks, James.

Hello my name is Seligor. How have I arrived here, easy I typed in the words Precious Bane, and this forum jumped up and said "Hi" so here I am. I do have a copy of the film Precious Bane. Taped it from the Television many years ago when it was released by the BBC in conjunction with Glasgow film/student admin. I think. I say I think because I only allow myself to watch it when I am introducing it to someone whose never seen it.
I did at one time get in touch with the Glasgow address and the BBC, but no luck they just said the film was never released as a video. However later on I wrote to the BBC again and asked would they show it again, I must say this also was a long time ago. Low and behold I did find out that they put it on but only in certain regions. Foiled again. Still I have my VHS with the first 3mins stretched and it is definitely is PRECIOUS but not Bane.
I look forward to seeing you all very soon,
Seligor.

Default Greetings from Vancouver, Canada

I found this website while doing a google search for an old BBC production (1989) titled "The Ginger Tree". Based on Oswald Wynd's novel with a screenplay by Christopher Hampton, it was an exquisite piece of work.
I look forward to reading the posts from others on this forum and will no doubt make unexpected discoveries about film.

Welcome Seligor,

I also stumbled upon the forum while searching for a difficult-to-find film, and a couple of weeks later I had received it from a kind member. I've learned a lot in the short time I've been in the forum, and watched lots of films I would have missed out on.
If you don't have any luck getting a replacement for your over-stretched Precious Bane, let me know. I don't have it, but I think I know where it can be found.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi all,

I live in Canberra, Australia, and am an Ealing comedy film and TV comedies of the 60s and 70s fan. Specificly the 'Two Ronnies', 'Porridge', 'Open All Hours' (or anything Ronnie Barker has done) Morcambe and Wise, Frankie Howerd, etc I found this site as I was 'googling' for information on that wonderful pianist and actor from Spike Milligan's shows, Alan Clare.

Now I have found it, I shall pop in often.

Hello posters, just found this place, looks interesting. I'm a fan of old English films particularly Ealing films. My latest purchase (and oldest so far) was "Oh Mr Porter" from the Gainsborough studios. I'm waiting for a Terry Thomas box set to be delivered from Amazon in the next few days I'm looking forward to that. I like most English films but my fave era is the 1940's and 1950's. I recently watched "London belongs to me" again, I love the opening credits in that film, a journey down 1940's river Thames. Very nostalgic.

BILLY BUDD is available new / used from Amazon Amazon.co.uk: Billy Budd [1962] (REGION 1) (NTSC): Melvyn Douglas,Thomas Heathcote,Barry Keegan,Ronald Lewis,Cyril Luckham,Niall MacGinnis,Ray McAnally,David McCallum,John Meillon,Lee Montague,John Neville,Paul Rogers,Terence Stamp,Victor Brooks,Pete.
The rule is that if a film is availble commercially you should not be requesting it. If however it's a rarity, then you can request it once you're established.
Welcome to the group

Default Hi All

Hi All

I was directed to join this forum from a newsgroup where I had posted a request for a film I have never seen but have waited since 1988 to get it. So anyway, I do enjoy all kinds of movies but particularly coming-of-age movies and as I am British I like British movies (but not exclusively as I have a great number from other countries too). Favourites among the Brit ones include Kes, Sweet Sixteen, There's Only One Jimmy Grimble, Purely Belter, Billy Elliott, A Room For Romeo Brass... the list goes on...and on...and on...and so do I !

Seems like a nice community here but I am something of a collector of dvds, concentrating mainly on nostalgic TV, stuff from my childhood and beyond. I am not into trading as I dont get the time but I do have some contacts by now where I purchase dvds of rare stuff from them, and I love adding to my collection but really should spend a little more time watching the things!

So anyway, I hope this isn't considered to be a meaningless post, and I will try to get back here when i can until i reach the magic number and can legitimately put in a request for the film I missed one easter back in 1988 due to a naughty video recorder!

Steve, Northampton, UK.

Thumbs up Bbc Tv Film 'three Men In A Boat'

Am an old woman of limited mobility, so my DIGITAL TV and LAPTOP are my window on the world, so to speak.......
The BBC shop is littered with boring and tedious sitcoms etc. and trying to get hold of this BRILLIANT 2 part series (above) seems quite impossible when their marketing department does not respond to HUNDREDS OF APPEALS for a DVD to be made available.
Can anyone help?

Talking new member remebering great television

Hi to everyone on this site.
i found this site while looking for dvd's,videos and clips on great british television of the past.I have found it very difficult obtaining some of the greatest moments in british television which seems such a shame.I know that has we get older our minds become a little sentimental but i am sure that telly from 20-30years+ ago was better than a lot of what is now shown.Does anyone remember Eric morecambe on world of sport with the great Dickie Davies.I know it was at christmas and i remember it was one of the funniest things i have ever seen on telly, even if you were not keen on sport it was incredibly entertaining.I have tried for years to obtain a copy of this but it does not appear to be available in any format.
